Do
You Know-
Jessica Simpson

When I heard the news Jessica Simpson was going to put out a country
album I got really excited. I love country music and I love her voice. I
thought it'd fit perfectly. A lot of people were very skeptical of it
and some say she lost her career after the divorce with Nick Lachey. I
call B.S. on that one. I felt she gained her career back after her
divorce. To have a marriage fail is one thing but to have it fail in the
public eye seems quite hard. During him it was reality shows. After him
it was music again. You can call her a bimbo, a dumb blonde, or a flake
which most people did after her chicken of the sea line. However you
can't deny that she's not smart enough to use that. I certainly feel
she's more intelligent than her ditzy alter ego likes to let on. She has
the brains to tell you exactly what she's thinking, how she feels, have
faith in herself and write a song or two about it. Since she's started
writing songs she's been very passionate. The album Do You Know is
extremely honest. She co-wrote 8 of the 11 tracks, and the men in her
life better listen carefully.
From
songs about Tony Romo to whom she calls the love of her life, to songs
about exes that felt abuse is okay in any form. My favorites include
Sipping on History, When I loved you like that, Still don't stop me, and
Remember that. Sipping on history takes you through the journey of lost
love. Of the we could've been that we all have shared with someone. I
could've been your June carter cash. Waltz right along with you. All
through this life with you. I could've been your light in the dark. The
one you're reaching for when you can't take it anymore. We could've
been. We could've been. Eighty years old. Sipping on history. Every
drop. Taste every memory. Under the stars. Looking back on this
beautiful life that we had. Holding your hand. We could've had a big
trampoline. Kids running around the yard. Superman and barbie cars. We
could've had that one of a kind love. The kind that fits like a glove.
That everyone is jealous of. We could've been...When I loved you like
that takes you through a journey of heartbreak and memories. Why do you
gotta be so complicated. Give me the world and then take it back. When I
loved you. When I loved you like that. You put my love in a bottle in
the ocean. Thinking you could control the tide. yeah. Just so you could
have a feeling of wanting me back one more time. yeah. I held you like
the morning holds the sun so carefully. I let you shine. So wild and
free. So endlessly. I gave you every part of me. Now you're walking in
the city's streets. You're cold and alone. The only thing keeping you company
is the melody in your song. Keep singing it. Hirsch scotch on the rocks
and drink your misery down. Go home and make love to her and picture me.
Yeah picture me. Remember that is an anthem for any girl who has a man
begging for forgivness that isn't even worth her beauty and
intelligence. When it's 3 a.m. and he's at your door and he's want you
back and he's begging for forgivness. Remember that. When your phone
keeps ringing all night long and that same old weakness gets so strong.
you're helpless. Remember that. Remember. How he pushed you in the
hallway just enough to heart a little bit. Remember the whiskey in his
whispers. The lies that fell so easily from his lips. He said he'll
never do it again. But you can't take it back. The proof is on your
skin. Remember that. All these songs I've thought of someone when
listening to. It's just simply beautiful. I am looking forward to her
next country album.
